It started out as a series of rapes that began along Baseline road in Phoenix in August of 2005.
At first, the crimes seemed isolated, but then they began to be connected. The person committing these crimes was dubbed The Baseline Rapist.
It wasn’t that long ago, and it’s a little hard to believe, but it was a different time and social media was not as prevalent in society, so people were not as aware of what was going on.
But by the summer of 2006, the assaults had been connected to a series of robberies and then murders. The Baseline Rapist had become The Baseline Killer.
At the same time, a “serial shooter” was also active. Several people had been killed in random drive-by shootings that appeared to have no motive.
It was a crazy summer of fear, people were tense and anxious, and something had to give.
